Today my Airtel SIM switched to 5G network when I was buying groceries near Bhuvaneshwari Nagara Park. Looks like telecom operators after 5G auction, have upgraded their network. Since the network can switch all the way from 2G to 5G and vice-versa, perhaps 3GPP option 3X is deployed. It might take some more years to switch to standalone 5G. Here is snapshot of speed from speedtest. It was whopping 250+Mbps at that time! Also notice the 5G label over signal strength indicator
