More droplets

We are into August month and finally monsoon is showing presence all over Karnataka. The western ghats are shrouded with thick nimbus clouds and its deluge everywhere. The glory of monsoon is back but not without tale of destruction. In my native too its torrential rains with gusty wind. The electric pools are uprooted and restoration taking more than 2 days. The village is blacked out for longer time. The malnad region is under severe beating by monsoon rains. The Ashlesha star looks like is pouring deficit of past months all at once. Hopefully my exaggeration does not result in an  immediate dry spell :-) (a pinch of jinx). The rivers are invading human habitats. There is barrage of murkier water all through western ghats. The monsoon is swelling the reservoirs. Overall its good and bad news, perhaps a more of latter one. The destruction caused by the relentless rains is astronomical. The rains which needed to distributed across months are pouring in span of few weeks which is increasing the casuality level. Hopefully, the distribution remains even in subsequent monsoon seasons.

While the western ghats are drenched in rains, there has been mere cloud activity is Bangalore from past week. Intermittent drizzles were only hope. Today morning, it rained with slightly more intensity but not enough. It was enough to obstruct office goers since the timing of rain was around 9AM. Bang on time! I too delayed my commute to office by 45 mins till rains completely subsided. Two wheeler riding is not so easy with bad roads and drizzling weather. In the interim, I captured these droplets again. The light was bit intense due to the raising day and hence 1/160 shutter culminated in stable pictures despite the shaky arms. The droplets over the flower and foliage was pleasing to capture and was satisfied with the result.

Fantastic Reflections

That was fantastic day. It rained for couple of days, the winds were low, the atmosphere was great. The rains have spruced up surroundings. The evening was vivacious. The lake was still. The reflection of clouds on the lake water was clear. The evening was lighted up and clouds glowed with energy. The stage was set for the wonderful light show and the lake added additional charm. This ensemble was duly captured by my mobile camera and my eyes.

Hope you enjoy the vivid glimpses shot on that colorful evening. While my toddlers were busy in play area, there was equally busy activity over troposphere which kept my photography soul busy as well.

Revived Monsoon

The mahanakshatra of Pushya is stirring hope of revived monsoon. Finally the glory of monsoon is back in our village. The fields are flooded and rains are relentless. The monsoon has revived and has magically turned the land to temporary lakes. The rains are crossing 200mm and the schools have declared holiday. Hopefully the saga lasts longer than expected.

Back in bangalore, the monsoon has shown some presence here too. The rains are showing up from past 3 days and it was quite heavy yesterday. Today on my weekend walk along the Rachenahalli lake, I caught those fabulous monsoon clouds (probably lazy) rushing from west horizon. The scenes are fascinating to capture for a landscape enthusiasts. The light was splendid. The clouds were everywhere. The winds were heavy. Overall, heartfelt scenes to capture.

I thought the sky would be illuminated during sunset but just when sun began sinking, a huge band of clouds hovered over the troposphere obliterating the light show. By the time, I had captured many vibrant scenes and this did not annoy so much. This time monsoon anomaly is quite noticeable. Sometimes rain and sometimes sun.

Needless to mention, it did not rain as per the intensity of clouds. Just a pinch of drizzle to contend for

Ending Note:

10 days after relentless rains, the MET department declared to expect above normal rains in next two weeks. Alas! I don't know if there is jinx associated with their declaration or nature wants to challenge human kind. The rains completely stopped later ON. It is dry spell again with intense heat.

During the intermission of Monsoon rains

It is not that my kitty is empty but the blog activity reduced for a while thanks to my inertia. The slackness has slumped blogger activity since months. Now it is time to push the power button and start uploading the cached write-ups. This is the first one and hope you enjoy it!

After pompous celebration of Janmashtami with sumptuous meal & snacks, today we set out for short stroll towards the magnificent backwaters of Arabian sea nearby in-laws house. It has been raining healthily from past 45 days and monsoon is on its normal course. The traction which began 45 days back is persevering till date with either showers or heavy rains smashing the region. The scene was similar during the Janmashtami day wherein the heavy rains complemented the birthday of Lord Krishna. Fortunately and surprisingly on the subsequent day, the Sun rose over the blue skies of kundapura briefly. This motivated us to visit the river bank for a while but not without umbrella. The mercurial rains are never a safe bet and protection like umbrella is inevitable. It was me and my toddlers who embarked on a short journey to the hinterland on a rare sunny day. It was an hour of joyful but sweltering stroll which concluded safely without any showers. The final relief after reaching home was none other than glass of cool lemon juice.

Being persistently raining, the land is covered with muck and my toddlers had tough time negotiating them. A stigma is associated with them on stepping over the muck. I had to convince them that it would be cleaned as we go home. Majority of the path was concreted but at some places puddles ruled. Stepping on those puddles was not a problem since the surface was clean :-). My toddlers too coped up with it. The last stretch is muddy road and to our luck it was relatively dry. We had a fine glimpse of murky backwater under shadow of coconut trees. The hinterland is now garnished with lush green landscape thanks to prevailing monsoon rains. This place is known for torrential rains during monsoon season (exceeding 5000 mm annually) due to its proximity with western ghats.

As you see, this place looks cool but actually its too hot & humid. My toddlers wanted to move further and stay for some more time. But managing them with single umbrella was difficult. Also the stranded muck prevented us from further moving forward. We restricted our short stay to minimal area.

The monsoon season is ripe time for paddy cultivation. Most of the farmers here have initiated paddy cultivation. Hopefully they will have good returns for their hard work

The clouds were minimal with blue sky dominating the majority of troposphere. That was not the case until the clock ticked towards 1PM. The heavy clouds gathered and started pouring with high  velocity. That was the end of brief sun lit time which was thoroughly enjoyed despite the intense perspiration
