ಮೇಘ ಬಂತು ಮೇಘ, ಪಡುವಣ ಮೇಘ!

ಕೆಳಗೆ ಇರೋ ಚಿತ್ರ ನೋಡಿದ್ರಾ? ಕರಾವಳಿಯವರಿಗೆ ಮುಂಗಾರಿನ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಮಾಮೂಲು ದೃಶ್ಯ. ಈತರ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಕಂಡರೆ ಕೊಡೆ ಇದ್ದವರು ಕೂಡಲೇ ತೆರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಕೊಡೆ ಇಲ್ಲದವರು ಕೂಡಲೇ ಓಡಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಯಾವುದಾದರು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಶ್ರಯ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಸೈಕಲ್ ಇದ್ದವರು ಸೈಕಲ್ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಒಂದೋ ಕೊಡೆ ತೆರೆದು ಒಂದು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೈಕಲ್ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮುಂದುವರೆಸುತ್ತಾರೆ  ಇಲ್ಲವಾದಲ್ಲಿ ರೈನ್-ಕೋಟ್ ಧರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಮತ್ತೆ ಸ್ಕೂಟರ್ ಇದ್ದವರು ಬೇಗನೆ ರೈನ್-ಕೋಟ್ ಧರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ! ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಪಡುವಣ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನ ಮೋಡ ಬಹು ಬೇಗನೆ ಮೇಲೇರಿ ಧೋ ಎಂದು ಮಳೆ ಸುರಿಯಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಬೇಗನೆ ತಯಾರು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳದಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀವು ಒದ್ದೆ ಆಗುವುದು ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿ!

ಇನ್ನು, ಮೂಡಣ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲು ಎಲ್ಲವು ಖಾಲಿ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಪಡುವಣ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನ ಮೋಡ ಮೂಡಣಕ್ಕೂ ಆವರಿಸಿ, ವಾತಾವರಣ ಕತ್ತಲೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಅಂದ ಎಷ್ಟು ಬಾರಿ ನೋಡಿದರೂ  ಬೇಸರವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಷ್ಟು ಮಳೆ ಬಂದರೂ ಚಳಿ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ಆನಂದಿಸಬಹುದು. ಇತ್ತೀಚಿಗೆ ಊರಿಗೆ  ಹೋದಾಗ ತೆಗೆದ ಮುಂಗಾರಿನ ದೃಶ್ಯಗಳು ನಿಮಗಾಗಿ. ಈ ಬಾರಿಯೂ ಮುಂಗಾರು ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಸುರಿದಿದೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ವರುಷವು ಮಳೆ, ಬೆಳೆ ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗಿರಲಿ ಎಂದು ಆಶಿಸೋಣ.

ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಉಡುಪಿ ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನ ದರುಶನ ಭಾಗ್ಯವೂ ದೊರೆಯಿತು, ಹಾಗೆ ಪುರಾತನ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಅನಂತೇಶ್ವರ-ಚಂದ್ರೇಶ್ವರ ದರುಶನ ಕೂಡಾ ಸುಸೂತ್ರವಾಗಿ ಆಯಿತು. ಬಹಳ ದಿನಗಳ ಬಳಿಕ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ದರುಶನ ಪಡೆದೆವು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕುಂಭಾಶಿ ಹರಿಹರ ಮತ್ತು ವಿನಾಯಕನ ದರುಶನವೂ ಆಯಿತು.  ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ನಿಮಗಾಗಿ (ಕುಂಭಾಶಿಯ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯಲು ಮರೆತುಹೋಯಿತು)

ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅನಂತೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಹಿಂದಿನ ದಿನದ ಅನಂತ ಚತುರ್ದಶಿಯ ಅಲಂಕಾರವನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಧನ್ಯರಾದೆವು.

ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆ ಬರೆಯಲು ಒಂದು ಕಾರಣವಿದೆ. ಬಹಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ "ಮೇಘ ಬಂತು ಮೇಘ" ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ನನಗೆ ಮೊದಲು ಆಕರ್ಷಿಸಿದ್ದು ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆಯ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ! ಹೌದೌದು ಅದೆಂತಹ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಸೊಬಗು ಈ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಚೆಲುವನಾರಾಯಣ ಮತ್ತು ಯೋಗಾನರಸಿಂಹ ದೇವರ ದಿವ್ಯಸ್ಥಾನ. ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಭಾರತದ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲೆಗಳು!  ಯೋಗಾನರಸಿಂಹ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಕಾಣುವ ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆಯ ವಿಹಂಗಮ ನೋಟ ಎಂತಹವರನ್ನೂ ಮಂತ್ರಮುಗ್ಧಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಎಲ್ಲೇಲ್ಲಿ  ನೋಡಿದರೂ ಕಾಣುವ ಸಣ್ಣ ಸಣ್ಣ ಕೆರೆಗಳು ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಸೊಬಗಿಗೆ ಆಭರಣವಿಟ್ಟಂತಿದೆ. ದೂರ ದೂರಕ್ಕೂ ಬೆಟ್ಟ-ಗುಡ್ಡಗಳಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ ಮನಮೋಹಕ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಆಹ್ಲಾದವನ್ನುಂಟು ಮಾಡುವುದು ನಿಸ್ಸಂದೇಹ! ಕೊನೆಯದಾಗಿ ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆಯ ಪುಳಿಯೊಗರೆ, ಮೊಸರನ್ನ, ಸಕ್ಕರೆ-ಪೊಂಗಲ್, ಚುರುಮುರಿ ಸವಿಯನ್ನು ಮರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆಯೇ! ಆ ಆಲೆಮನೆಯ ಘಮ-ಘಮ, ತಾಜಾ ಕಬ್ಬಿನ ಹಾಲು, ಎಳನೀರು ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಮರೆಯಲಾರದು ನೆನಪುಗಳು. ಸುಮಾರು ೪ ಬಾರಿ ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಆದರೂ ಪದೇ ಪದೇ ಹೋಗುವ ಮನಸ್ಸಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ೩ ವಾರದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಶನಿವಾರದ ಶುಭದಿನದಂದು ಮತ್ತೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿದೆನು. ಭಕ್ತಜನಸಾಗರದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ  ಚೆಲುವನಾರಾಯಣ ಮತ್ತು ಯೋಗಾನರಸಿಂಹರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಪಡೆದು, ನೆನಪುಗಳನ್ನು ಮೆಲುಕು ಹಾಕಿದೆನು. ಶನಿವಾರ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾರಸಿಂಹನಿಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟವಾದ ದಿನ ಕೂಡಾ! ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಶನಿವಾರದಂದು ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ದರ್ಶನ ಮಾಡಿ ಧನ್ಯರಾದೆವು.

"ಮೇಘ ಬಂತು ಮೇಘ" ಚಲನ ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರೀಕರಿಸಿದ್ದು. ಚಿತ್ರ ಉತ್ತಮವಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅದರ ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆಯ ಹಾಡು ನನಗೆ ಅಚ್ಚುಮೆಚ್ಚು. ವಿ.ಮನೋಹರ್ ಅವರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಗೀತ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆ.ಎಸ್. ಚಿತ್ರಾ ಅವರ ಸುಮಧುರ ಕಂಠದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡಿಬಂದ ಗಾಯನ ನನಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಮೆಚ್ಚು. ಈ ಹಾಡಿನ ಸಂಗೀತ ಕೂಡಾ ನಾದಸ್ವರ, ತವಿಲ್ ಸಂಯೋಜನೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆ ಪರಿಸರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಲುವಂತಿದೆ. ನಿಮಗಾಗಿ ಈ ಸುಂದರ ಹಾಡನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ನಮ್ಮ ಸುಂದರ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಡುವಣ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡಿ ಬಂದ ದಟ್ಟ ಮುಂಗಾರು ಮೋಡ ನನಗೆ (ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಚಿತ್ರ)  "ಮೇಘ ಬಂತು ಮೇಘ" ಹಾಡನ್ನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಮಾರ್ಪಾಡು ಮಾಡಲು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿತು. ಈ ಹಾಡಿನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅಭಿಮಾನಗಳ  ಕ್ಷಮೆ ಕೇಳುತ್ತಾ ಹೀಗಿದೆ ಹೊಸ ಪಲ್ಲವಿ.

ಉಡುಪಿಗೂ ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆಗೂ ಎತ್ತಣಿಂದೆತ್ತ ಸಂಬಂಧವಯ್ಯಾ! ಯಾಕಿಲ್ಲ ಹೇಳಿ :-). ಎರಡೂ  ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳು ಶ್ರೀಮನ್ನಾರಾಯಾಣನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿನಾವಲ್ಲವೇ? ಕೊನೆಯದಾಗಿ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಲು ಈ ಬರಹ ಬರೆದಿಲ್ಲ ಮಾರಾಯ್ರೇ , ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಉಡುಪಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣ, ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆ ಚೆಲುವನಾರಾಯಣ ಮತ್ತು  ಯೋಗಾನರಸಿಂಹ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗು ಒಳಿತನ್ನೇ ಮಾಡಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹಾರೈಸುತ್ತ ನನ್ನ ಬರಹವನ್ನು ಮುಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

Overlook of Overflow

Unprecedent rains have resurrected myriad of water-bodies across South Interior Karnataka. The dead borewells are now overflowing without the need to pump, numerous lakes have been rejuvenated, reservoirs are brimming with rain-water treasure, the local rivers are now flaunting their might. All thanks to copious rains from past three years, the water brawls are non-existent and politicians are finding alternate ways to create issues. Everyday we here happy news of "Kere kodi biddide" in Kannada Newspapers meaning lake overflowing and thus keeping politicians at bay. Let the rains be abundant every year and earth be surrounded by delightful nature.

One of the reservoir that is benefitted from recent heavy rains is Srinivasa Sagara reservoir situated near Chikkaballapura. Just 70mins from Bangalore, this place is covered with verdant nature thanks to rains. The reservoir also overflew last week and now attracting tourists from Bangalore city. Even my kids whole-heartedly enjoyed merrymaking in pristine fresh rain waters. The place looks like artificial water falls which is ideal for taking bath. The simple landscape is another advantage for risk free enjoyment. Here is a glimpse of overflowing reservoir flowing downstream. A full video will be uploaded soon!

Before descending to play area where excess water flows downstream as artificial waterfall, the viewpoint of Srinivasa Saagara is must visit. The tone trio of the ruddy reservoir with spilling water, bounded by verdant hill, and blue skies, is natural stress buster. The overlook from reservoir not only gives majestic views of overflowing water but also provides view of nature overflowing with beauty. Such scenery provided an apt title for this blog. With the rains predicted to increase further, the place may not be open for public if the overflow is above danger level. Do visit and cherish the enchanting nature without littering the region.

While I was shooting some great moments, a group of monkeys arrived and started threatening visitors. The leader of clan was funnily jumping and looking at visitor's monkey-play in water. Monkey was  apparently enjoying nature's glory or silently jeering at monkey plays of humans in overhead water. Perhaps, monkeys were only interested in visitor's snack. This monkey overlooking from view point seem to be mimicking the monkey's play of humans :-). Look at swag of monkey in below video :-D

Finally! Overflow of thoughts

While the monsoon bloomed the dormant river bodies yielding in surplus water for rest year, it has too exposed the malpractices of corrupt administration in city. It may be attributed to greed of current or previous rulers but the nature has taught a severe lesson. The encroached canals are now extinct and rains have brought canals to human areas. The builders who plan as per the average rainfall in city are now provided with befitting reply from nature. The greedy builders are now need to re-evaluate structure design to guarantee the lifetime of their apartments. If the current trend of Bangalore rainfall persists for 5 more years, then the already constructed residential buildings would severely see the downfall of their life span. Reckless construction is being exposed by nature with unprecedented rains. With rains increasing every year, people who want to buy homes in unplanned part of city will have to rethink now. With the help of monsoon rains, the river/rivulets also reclaimed its lost path from encroachers. Nature is unstoppable and nobody can overwhelm it. A warning sign has already been sent by monsoons and may turn violent if we don't heed to it.

Melukote Puliyogare Stall atop Yoganarasimha Swamy Hill

Melukote lures us for an additional reason beyond enchanting landscape and divine sanctums. It is none other than traditional food available here. As you know, Melukote is popular hub for savoring authentic puliyogare from delicacy point of view. I had opportunity to savour this local delicacy during our recent visit. Being auspicious day of Shravana Shanivara, we faced mighty queue of devotees at Yoganarasimha temple post daunting barefoot hill climb. It took nearly 45 mins to complete the Darshan of Yoganarasimha which was most soul satisfying. On normal days, yoganarasimha temple would close by 1:30PM and subsequent reopen happens only by 5PM. Gladfully, on Shravana Saturday, the temple is open throughout the day. We decelerated the ascension after ascertaining the extended temple timings.

On the way back from temple, the stomach was rumbling at 2:30PM which was beyond our lunch schedule. We stopped at this lone small restaurant situated atop. They were selling Puliyogare (tamarind rice), mosaranna (curd rice) and sakkare pongal (sweet pongal). The shop also sell Churmuri and other variety of local snacks (like Bella mithai) for sale. We bought Puliyogare and Mosaranna initially.

The texture of Puliyogare was enough to feel its taste. That was lip-smacking puliyogare we had. For children, it may taste bit spicy but for adults, its delicious. You can feel the real aroma of tamarind, kobbari (copra) and shenga (groundnut). They serve mosaranna with sweet pongal as compliment. Its kind of business strategy shop-owners have. The Sweet pongal was marvelous in taste garnished with dry-fruits, blend with sugar, ghee and coconuts. This combinatorial is pure heaven. The taste addicts you to buy a couple more plates which attracts more business to vendors.

You can enjoy these delicacies sitting on the rock and enjoying the wonderful overlook of landscapes with dotted ponds. Thanks to recent rains, its green everywhere. The lakes are brimming and nature is charming. Other good part is, shop members guard monkeys so that you can eat peacefully :-)

There are numerous shops with similar menu. If you are early for lunch, I suggest you to try the ones nearby Cheluvaranaraswamy temple which should be equally good. Having hefty lunch atop and climbing down would be arduous task for many :-)

ಶ್ರೀ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಹದ್ದಿನಕಲ್ಲು ಯಾತ್ರೆ, ಗೂಗಲ್ ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ತಾಪತ್ರೆ

ಬಹಳ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಬಳಿಕ ಹದ್ದಿನಕಲ್ಲು ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಸಂದರ್ಶಿಸುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ಒದಗಿ ಬಂತು. ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಮಾಸದ ಮುಂಚೆ ಇದರ ಯೋಜನೆ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಹಲವು ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಂದ ಹನುಮಂತರಾಯರು ತಡೆಹಿಡಿದಿದ್ದರು. ಮತ್ತು ಅದನ್ನು ತಡೆಹಿಡಿದದ್ದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಂತಾ ಮನದಟ್ಟಾಯಿತು! ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು ಅಂತಾ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಬೇಗ ಹೊರಡೋಣವೆಂದರೆ ಅನಾವಶ್ಯಕ ಕಾರಣಗಳು. ಹೇಗೂ ೯ಕ್ಕೆ ಗಾಡಿ ಹೋರಡಿತು. ನಾಗಸಂದ್ರ ಶುಲ್ಕ ವಸೂಲಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಗನೆ ಬಂದರೂ ತದನಂತರ ಗ್ರಹಚಾರ ಕಾದಿತ್ತು. ೩ದಿನ ಸರಣಿ ರಜೆ ಇದ್ದರಿಂದ ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಪಟ್ಟೆ ವಾಹನ ಸಂದಣಿ. ಸುಮಾರು ೪ಕಿ.ಮೀ ಸಂಚರಿಸಲು ಪೂನಾ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ೪೦ ನಿಮಿಷ ಒದ್ದಾಡಬೇಕಾಯಿತು. ಬೇಕೆಂದರೆ ಚಿತ್ರ ನೋಡಿ ಕನ್ಫರ್ಮ್ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ

ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಹನಗಳ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು. ಏಕಾಗಿ ವಾಹನ ದಟ್ಟಣೆಯಾಯಿತು ಎಂಬುದು ಕೊನೆಗೂ ತಿಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೆಲಮಂಗಲ ಜಂಕ್ಸನ್ ಇಂದ ಕೂಡಾ ಜಾಮ್ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. 

ಏನೋ, ಸಮಯ ಅಂತೂ ಬಹಳ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಯಿತು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಕಾಮತ್ ಹೋಟೆಲ್ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಂಡಿ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಖಾಲಿ! ಜನ ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಪಟ್ಟೆ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಡ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಉಳಿದಿತ್ತು ಅಂತಾ ಹೇಳಿದರು ಹೋಟೆಲಿನ ಕ್ಯಾಶಿಯರ್. ಕಾಮತ್ ಹೋಟೆಲ್ ಯಾಕೆ ಹೊಕ್ಕೇನೋ ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯದು. ಅವರು ಬಸ್ಸು ಬಂದರೆ ಸಾಕು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರಿಗೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಚಾಲಕರಿಗೆ ಆದಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ ನೀಡಿ, ಸ್ವಂತ ವಾಹನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವವರ ಕಡೆಗಣಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದಲೇ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಈ ಬಾರಿಯೂ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಆಯಿತು. ಬಸ್ಸು ಹೊರಡುವವರೆಗೂ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವವರಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ತದನಂತರ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ರಾಜಹಂಸ ಬಂದಾಗಲೂ ಹೋಟೆಲ್ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕರ ಗಮನ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರತ್ತ ವಾಲಿತ್ತು. ಸಾಂಬಾರ್ ಕೊಡಿ ಅಂತಾ ೩-೪ ಬಾರಿ ಕೇಳಿದ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಬಂತು ನೋಡಿ. ಒಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಬಸ್ಸು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಹೋಟೆಲ್ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂದೂ ಕಾಲಿಡಬೇಡಿ ಮಾರಾಯ್ರೇ!

ಮತ್ತೆ ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬರೋಣ :-).

ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶ - ೧

ಯಡಿಯೂರಿನ ಬಳಿಕ ಹದ್ದಿನಕಲ್ಲು ತಲುಪಲು ಸ್ವಾಗತ ಕಮಾನು ಸಿಗುವುದೆಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೂ ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಚಾಲು ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ನೋಡಿ ಗ್ರಹಚಾರ ಶುರು ಆಗಿದ್ದ. ಸ್ವಾಗತ ಕಮಾನು ದಾರಿಯ ಬದಲು ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಟಿ.ನರಸೀಪುರ-ಶಿರಾ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ದಾರಿ ತೋರಿಸಿತು. ಆ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ  ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೋ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಯಿತು. ಸುಮಾರು ೪-೫ ಅಡ್ಡ ದಾರಿಗಳು, ಸಣ್ಣ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳು ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ಗಲ್ಲಿ ರಸ್ತೆಗಳು! ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ್ ಹೋಗುವುದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ! ಕೊನೆಗೆ ವಿಧಿಯಿಲ್ಲದೇ ಹಳ್ಳಿ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವರು ಸರಿಯಾದ ದಾರಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದರು. ನೋಡಿ ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ದಾರಿ. ಈಗಲೂ ಇದೇ ದಾರಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಹದ್ದಿನಕಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಶನಿವಾರದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಜನಜಾತ್ರೆಯೇ ಸೇರಿತ್ತು. ಹಲವು ಮಂದಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಹತ್ತಿ ಆಂಜನೇಯನ ದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ನಾವು ಕೂಡಾ ಬರಿಗಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಹತ್ತಿ ಆಂಜನೇಯನ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಪಡೆದು ಧನ್ಯರಾದೆವು. 

ವಾಪಸ್ ಬಂದಾಗ ಶ್ರವಣಬೆಳಗೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಹಾಕಿದೆ. ಈಗ ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಸ್ವಾಗತ ಕಮಾನು ದಾರಿ ತೋರಿಸಿತು. ಆದರೆ ದಾರಿ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ರಸ್ತೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಲು ಹೇಳಿತು. ನನಗೆ ಸಂಶಯ ಬಂದು, ಅದರ ಸೂಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಧಿಕ್ಕರಿಸಿ ಉತ್ತಮ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದುವರೆದೆನು. ಏನಾಶ್ಚರ್ಯ! ಮಂಗಳೂರು ರಸ್ತೆ ಬಳಿ ಇರುವ ಸ್ವಾಗತ ಕಮಾನಿಗೆ ಕೇವಲ ೧೦ ನಿಮಿಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಲೀಸಾಗಿ ತಲುಪಿದೆವು! ರಸ್ತೆ ಕೂಡಾ ಬೊಂಬಾಟ್! ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಎಂದರೆ ೪ ಕಿ.ಮೀ ಅಷ್ಟೇ! ಗೊತ್ತಿದ್ದರೂ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದೆ ತಪ್ಪು ಆಯಿತು. ಭಾರತದ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೋ ಜನರ ಸಹಾಯ ಕೇಳಬೇಕು, ಗೊತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾವೇ ಸಂಚರಿಸುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು ಎಂಬ ಪಾಠ ಗೂಗಲ್ ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಕಲಿಸಿತ್ತು!

ಇದು ನೋಡಿ ಸರಿಯಾದ ದಾರಿ. ರಸ್ತೆಯೂ ಸೂಪರ್ ಇದೆ. ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ (X) ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸಬೇಡಿ! 

ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯವೆಂದರೆ, ಹದ್ದಿನಕಲ್ಲಿನಿಂದ ವಾಪಾಸ್ ಯಡಿಯೂರು ಬರಲು, ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಇದೇ ದಾರಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ! ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಯಾಕೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಆಗಿದಿಯೋ?

ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶ - ೨

ಹದ್ದಿನಕಲ್ಲು ಆಂಜನೇಯನ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಪಡೆದು ವಾಪಸ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ನಾಗಸಂದ್ರದಿಂದ ಕೊಡಿಗೇಹಳ್ಳಿಗೆ ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಹಾಕಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ತಪ್ಪು ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ದಾರಿ ಗೊತಿದ್ದರೂ  ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಮೊರೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೆ ತಪ್ಪಾಯಿತು ನೋಡಿ. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಾನೇ ಅಪನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ನೋಡಿದೆನೋ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಅಥವಾ ನಾವು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ದಾಸರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆಯೋ ನಾ ಕಾಣೆ. ಒಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ೭ಘಂಟೆಗೆ ನಾಗಸಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದವನು, ೮:೪೫ಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡಿಗೇಹಳ್ಳಿಗೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿದೆನು. ಯಾಕಾದ್ರೂ ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಹಾಕಿದೆ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿತು!

ವಿಷಯ ಏನೆಂದರೆ, ಜಾಲಹಳ್ಳಿ ಎಲಿವೇಟೆಡ್ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿ ಇನ್ನೇನು ಮುಗಿಯಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ, ಶುರು ಆಯಿತು ನೋಡಿ ಕೆಂಪು ದೀಪದ ದೀಪಾಲಂಕಾರ ಶೋ! ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೂ ವಾಹನ, ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೂ ವಾಹನ. ಗೊರಗುಂಟೆಪಾಳ್ಯ ಬರುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ೩೦ ನಿಮಿಷ ತಾಗಿರಬೇಕು. ಇಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಗಿಯಿತೋ? ಇಲ್ಲ. ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಹೆಬ್ಬಾಳವರೆಗೂ ಕೆಂಪು ಕೆಂಪು. ಯಾಕಾದರೂ ಈ ದಾರಿ ತೋರಿಸಿತೋ? ಮಾಮೂಲಿ HMT ರಸ್ತೆ ಮೂಲಕ ಹೋದರೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಎಂದರೆ ಬಾಗಲುಗುಂಟೆ ಜಂಕ್ಸನ್ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಹನ ದಟ್ಟಣೆ ಇರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಜಾಲಹಳ್ಳಿ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ ಅಲ್ಲಿ BMTC ಕೃಪೆ ಇಂದ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಇರುತ್ತಿತ್ತೇ ವಿನಹಾ ಅಂತಹ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಇರುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೆಬ್ಬಾಳ ವರೆಗೆ ಸಲೀಸಾಗಿ ಬರಬಹುದಿತ್ತು. ಈಗ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ತೆವಳುತ್ತ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ಬಹುಶಃ ಹೆಬ್ಬಾಳ ಫೈ-ಓವರ್ ದಾಟಿದ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ೪ನೇ ಗೇರಿಗೆ ಕಾರು ಓಡಿದ್ದು. ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ತಾಳ್ಮೆ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ವಾಹನ ಚಾಲಕನೊಬ್ಬ ನಮಗೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಬೈದನೆಂದೇ ತಿಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲೂ ಹೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಲ್ಲ ಅದರ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಯಾವ ಸಾಹಸದಿಂದ ಇದನ್ನು ಭೇಧಿಸಬಹುದೆಂದು ಬಹುಷಃ ಆ ತಾಳ್ಮೆ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಚಾಲಕನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಳಬಹುದು. ಇರಲಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ತಲೆಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. 

ಮುಂದುವರೆಸುತ್ತ, ಅರೆರೆ ಗೋರುಗುಂಟೆಪಾಳ್ಯ ರಿಂಗ್-ರೋಡ್ ಬಂದ್ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಏನಕ್ಕೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಶವಂತಪುರವೇ ಗತಿ. ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೂ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಅರೆಬೆಂದ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಗಳು. ಕಾಲು, ಕ್ಲಚ್-ಬ್ರೇಕ್ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಇತ್ತು. ಕೈ, ಗೇರ್ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಇತ್ತು. ಸಾಕಾಗಿ ಹೋಯಿತು. ಏರು ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪೆಟ್ರೋಲ್ ಕಾರಿನ ಕ್ಲಚ್ ಬಾಲೆನ್ಸ್ ಮಾಡುವುದೇ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಾಹಸವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕ್ಲಚ್ ತಪ್ಪಿ ಹೋದರೆ ಗಾಡಿ ಬಂದ್ ಬಿದ್ದರೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿದೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ. ಹಿಂದಿರುವವರು ಯಗ್ಗಾ-ಮಗ್ಗ ಹಾರ್ನ್ ಮಾಡಿ ಬೈದು ಬಿಡುವರು. ಗಾಡಿ ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಗಾಡಿಗೆ ತಾಗುವ ಭಯ. ತಾಗಿದರೆ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಜಾಮ್ ಮಧ್ಯೆಯೇ ಜಗಳ ಕಾಯುವ ಜನ. ಅಬ್ಬಬ್ಬಾ ಈ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಸಹವಾಸವೇ ಬೇಡ. permanent WFH ಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ ಊರಕಡೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇವೆ ಮಾರಾಯ್ರೇ. ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ರಿಯಲ್-ಎಸ್ಟೇಟ್, ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳ ದಂಧೆಯ ಮಧ್ಯೆಯೇ ನಾವು ಸಿಕ್ಕಿ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಅನ್ನುವುದು ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ. ನಗರ ಬೆಳೆದಂತೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಿರುವ ಸೌಕರ್ಯಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಉದ್ಧಾರವಾಗದೆ ಇದೆ. ನಮ್ಮಂತ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರ ಬಳಿ ಟ್ಯಾಕ್ಸ್ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಯಾರ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬಿಸ್ತಾ ಇದಾರೋ ಆ ಆಂಜನೇಯನೇ ಬಲ್ಲ. ಏನು ಮಾಡುವುದು, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ನಮ್ಮ ಗ್ರಹಚಾರ ಅಂದು ಸುಮ್ಮನಾಗುವುದು ಒಳಿತು.

ನಡೆದು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಬೇಗ ತಲುಪಬಹುದಿತ್ತು ಅಂತಾ ಮಡದಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು. ಯಶವಂತಪುರ ಫೈ-ಓವರ್ ಬಳಿಯ ಅಪಾರ್ಟ್ಮೆಂಟನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್-ಜಾಮ್ ವ್ಯೂ ಅಪಾರ್ಟ್-ಮೆಮೆಂಟ್ ಅಂತಾ ಮರು ನಾಮಕರಣ ಮಾಡಬಹುದೇನೋ :-D. ಇಂತಹ ಹಲವು ಹಾಸ್ಯ ಚಟಾಕಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾರಿಸಿ, ಕಷ್ಟದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಸುಖವನ್ನು ಕಂಡೆವು. ಮೇಖ್ರಿ ವೃತ್ತದ ಬಳಿಕ ಮತ್ತೆ ಜಾಮ್! ಹೆಬ್ಬಾಳ ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಬಸ್ಸುಗಳ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದದಿಂದ. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ತರಹದ ಬಸ್ಸುಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಯದ್ವಾ ತದ್ವ ಓಡಿಸಿ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ವಾಹನ ದಟ್ಟಣೆ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಕಡೆಗೆ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಬಂದು ಬಸ್ಸುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿಸಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ದಟ್ಟಣೆಯನ್ನು ಸುಗಮಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಇಂತಹ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಜಾಮ್ ಕಾಣೆನೋ ಈ ಜಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂತಹ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಜಾಮ್ ಕಾಣೆನೋ 

ವಾಹನ ಶಬ್ದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಜನರ ಬೈಗುಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಚಿಂದಿ-ಚಿತ್ರಾನ್ನ ರಸ್ತೆ,

ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಕಾಲು ನೋವು ಕ್ಲಚ್ಚು ಒತ್ತಿ!

ಇವತ್ತು ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಇಂದ ಪಟ್ಟ ಕಷ್ಟ ಅಷ್ಟಿಷ್ಟಲ್ಲ :-(. ೨ ಘಂಟೆ ದೀರ್ಘ ಯುದ್ಧಧ ಬಳಿಕ ಸೂರು  ಸೇರಿದೆವು. ಇನ್ನೆಂದೂ ಗೊತ್ತಿರುವ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮ್ಯಾಪ್ ಅನ್ನು ಅನುಕರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಮಾರಾಯ್ರೇ. ಹಾಗೆ ಒಂದು ಕಗ್ಗ, ಥಟ್ ಅಂತಾ ತಲೆಗೆ ಹೊಳೆಯಿತು.

ಸಮಯ ಉಳಿಸುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ, ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ತೋರಿಸಯ್ಯ ಗೂಗಲ್ ಮ್ಯಾಪಯ್ಯಾ! ಗುಂಡಿ, ನೀರು ತೋರಿಸಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಬೆನ್ನು ಮುರಿಯಬೇಡಯ್ಯಾ!

ಕೊನೆಯದಾಗಿ: ಆಗೋದೆಲ್ಲ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಕ್ಕೆ ಆಯಿತು!

ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟರೆ ಆಗೋದೆಲ್ಲ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಕ್ಕೆ ಅನ್ನೋದು ನಿಜ. ಹದ್ದಿನಕಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಯೋಜನೆ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದರೂ ೨ ವಾರದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಅನಾರೋಗ್ಯದಿಂದ ಸಂಚರಿಸಲು ಆಗಲಿಲ್ಲವೆನ್ನುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಹಳ ಬೇಸರ ಇತ್ತು. ಆಗ ಬಹಳ ಮಳೆಯೂ ಇತ್ತು ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬಲವಾದ ಮುಂಗಾರು ಗಾಳಿ ಬೀಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಇಂದು ಹದ್ದಿನಕಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗಲೇ ತಿಳಿದದ್ದು ಆಗ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಪೂರ್ತಿ ಗಿಡಗಂಟೆಗಳಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು! ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಮಾಸದ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಪೂರ್ತಿ ಶುಚಿ ಮಾಡಿ ಜನಗಳಿಗೆ ಹತ್ತಲು ಅನುಕೂಲ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಮಳೆ-ಗಾಳಿಯ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಹತ್ತುವುದು ಅಸಾಧ್ಯದ ಮಾತು! ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಜಾರುವ ಕಲ್ಲು ಮತ್ತೆ ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಕಡಿದಾದ ಮಾರ್ಗ. ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಕೆಳಗಿಳಿಯುವುದು ಬಹು ಕಷ್ಟ! ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇರಬೇಕು ಹನುಮಂತ ರಾಯರು ನಮ್ಮ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಂದೂಡಿದ್ದು! ಇಂದು ದಾರಿ ಕೂಡಾ ಸುಗಮವಾಗಿತ್ತು ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬಿಸಿಲು-ಮೋಡದ ಜುಗಲ್-ಬಂದಿ, ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಹತ್ತುವುದನ್ನು ಸುಗಮವಾಗಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಗಾಳಿ ಕೂಡಾ ಅಷ್ಟೇನೂ ಬಿಸುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಶನಿವಾರದ ಶುಭದಿನ ಬೇರೆ. ಎಲ್ಲವು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗಿದಕ್ಕೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಆಂಜನೇಯ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದವನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದೆ.

ಬುದ್ಧಿರ್ಬಲಂ ಯಶೋಧರ್ಯಂ ನಿರ್ಭಯತ್ವಂ ಅರೋಗತ।

ಅಜಾಡ್ಯಮ್ ವಾಕ್ಪಟುತ್ವಂಚ ಹನುಮತ್ ಸ್ಮರಣಾತ್ ಭವೇತ್|| 

ಬಲ, ಅರೋಗ, ಅಜಾಡ್ಯ ಬೇಕೆಂದರೆ ಸದಾ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿರಬೇಕು. ದೇಹ ದಂಡನೆಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಆರೋಗ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಮಕ್ಕಳು, ದೊಡ್ಡವರು, ಮುದುಕರು ಎಂಬ ಭೇದವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಹತ್ತಿ ದೇವರ ದರ್ಶನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಕೂಸನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ತಮ್ಮ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ತುಂಬಾ ಸುಸ್ತಾಗಿ ವಾಪಾಸ್ ಹೋಗಬಯುಸುವವರಿಗೆ, ಅವರ ಹತ್ತಿರದವರು "ಇಷ್ಟೊಂದು ದೂರ ಬಂದು ದೇವರ ನೋಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಾವಾ! ಆಂಜನೇಯ ಸ್ಮರಿಸು, ಅವನೇ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಹತ್ತಲು ಶಕ್ತಿ ಕೊಡ್ತಾನೆ" ಎಂಬ ಧೃಢ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಹುರಿದುಂಬಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ನಮಗೂ ಅವರ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಹದ್ದಿನಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಆಂಜನೇಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಹತ್ತಿ ಬನ್ನಿ ಅಂತ ಭಕ್ತರನ್ನು ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಕರೆಯುವಂತಿದೆ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಮನೆ ಸೇರುವ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ತಾಳ್ಮೆ ಎಂಬುವ ಪಾಠವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಟ್ಟಂತಿದೆ. ಶ್ರೀ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ಬನ್ನಿ. ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಶನಿವಾರ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಮಯ. ಜನಜಂಗುಳಿ ಇದ್ದರೂ, ಸಾರ್ಥಕತೆಯ ಭಾವ ಇರುವುದು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಮಳೆಗಾಲದ ಸುಂದರ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಸವಿಯಬಹುದು.

ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಡ್ಡು ಗೋಲ್ಮಾಲ್

೦೫ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ ೨೦೨೨,

ಬಹಳ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಬಳಿಕ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮೈಸೂರು ಸುತ್ತಾಡುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ಒದಗಿ ಬಂದಿತು. ಕುಟುಂಬದವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಖುಷಿಯಿಂದ ಮೈಸೂರು ಸುತ್ತಾಡಿದೆವು. ಆಗಾಗ ಜಿಟಿಜಿಟಿ ಹಾಗು ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಜೋರು ಮಳೆ ಸುರಿದರೂ, ನಾವು ತಿರುಗಾಡುವ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆರಾಯ ಬಿಡುವು ನೀಡು ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರವಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದನು :-).

ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಮೊದಲ ದಿನ ಶುಕ್ರವಾರದಂದು (ವರಮಹಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ಪುಣ್ಯದಿನ ಬೇರೆ), ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೊದಲ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ತಾಯಿ ಚಾಮುಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಸುಮಾರು ೧೦ ವರ್ಷವೇ ಆಗಿರಬೇಕು. ಇಂದು ಶುಭದಿನದಂದು ಆ ಅವಕಾಶ ಒದಗಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮ ಪುಣ್ಯ. ಅಷ್ಟೇನು ಜನಜಂಗುಳಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಮಲೆನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಗಾರು ಬಿರುಸು ಪಡೆದರೆ, ಬಯಲುಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜೋರು ಗಾಳಿ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಜಿಟಿಜಿಟಿ ಮಳೆ ಸಾಥ್ ನೀಡುವುದು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ. ಗಾಳಿ ಬಹಳ ಬಿರುಸಾಗಿಯೂ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ತಣ್ಣನೆ ಬೀಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಕೋತಿಗಳ ಕಾಟದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ, ಜನರ ನೂಕುನುಗ್ಗಲಿನ ನಡುವೆ, ೩೦ ನಿಮಿಷದ ಒಳಗೆ ದೇವಿಯ ದರ್ಶನ ಮುಗಿಸಿದೆವು. ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಮನಸ್ಸು ಕೂಡಾ ಹಗುರವಾಗಿ ಸಂತೋಷವಾಯಿತು. ತಾಯಿಯ ಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮ ದರ್ಶನದ ಬಳಿಕವೇ ಮಳೆ ಸುರಿಯಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿತು. 

ಪ್ರತಿ ಪುಣ್ಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ದರ್ಶನದ ಬಳಿಕ, ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಲಾಡು ಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ನನಗೆ. ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲೂ ಅದೇ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಮುಂದುವರೆಸಿದೆ.  ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಒಳಗಡೆ ೨ ಲಡ್ಡುವಿಗೆ ೩೦ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ನಿಗದಿಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಮಂಗಗಳ ಕಾಟದಿಂದ ನಾನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಖರೀದಿಸಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದೆ. ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಆವರಣದಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಂದ ನಂತರ, ಲಡ್ಡು ಕೌಂಟರ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಲಡ್ಡು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಹೋದೆವು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ೩ ಲಡ್ಡುವಿಗೆ ೫೦ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ನಾನು ಎರಡು ಸಾಕು ಎಂದಾಗ, "ಚೆಂಜ್ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಮೂರು ತಗೋಬೇಕು" ಅಂತಾ ಪಟ್ಟುಹಿಡಿದನು. ನಾನು ವಿಧಿಯಿಲ್ಲದೇ ೫ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಅಧಿಕ ಶುಲ್ಕ ನೀಡಿ ಖರೀದಿಸಿದೆ.

ದೇವರ ಹೆಸರಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂತಹ ಗೋಲ್ಮಾಲ್ ನೋಡಿ. ಚೇಂಜ್ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂತಾ ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡೋದಾ. ಇಂದಿನ  ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಪೇಮೆಂಟ್ ಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ "ಚೇಂಜ್ ಇಲ್ಲ" ಅನ್ನೋ ಪದವನ್ನೇ ಕೇಳದೆ ಬಹು ವರ್ಷಗಳಾಗಿವೆ. ಸರಕಾರಿ ಯಂತ್ರಗಳೇ ಈ ರೀತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ಹೇಗೆ.  ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಮಾತು ಏನೆಂದರೆ, ವಿಶೇಷ ದರ್ಶನದ ಟಿಕೆಟ್ ಪಡೆದವರಿಗೆ ಹೊರಗಡೆ ಲಾಡು ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರಿಗೆ ಇರುವ ಕೌಂಟರ್ ಅಲ್ಲ ಅಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನನಗೆ ಅವನು ಬಿಲ್ ಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಂದರೆ ಈ ದುಡ್ಡು ಅವನ ಅಕೌಂಟ್ ಗೆ ಸೇರುತ್ತದೆಯೇನೋ? ಇರಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸುಲಿಗೆ. ನಮ್ಮಂತ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರು ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾಕೆ ವಾದ-ವಿವಾದ ಅಂತಾ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಲಾಡು ವಿತರಿಸುವವ ಕೂಡಾ "ಬೇಕಾದ್ರೆ ತಗೊಳ್ಳಿ ಇಲ್ಲಾಂದ್ರೆ ಹೋಗ್ರಿ" ಅಂತಾ ಸಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಡಾಫೆಯಿಂದ ಉತ್ತರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಹಲವು ಒರಟು ನುಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗಿಯಿಂದ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೆ. ಇರಲಿ ಬಿಡಿ ಅದೊಂದು ಬೇರೆಯೇ ಕಥೆ. ಟ್ಯಾಕ್ಸ್ ದುಡ್ಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸರಕಾರ ಸೌಕರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಅದನ್ನೇ ಬಂಡವಾಳವಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಈತರ ಹಗಲು ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನಿಯತ್ತಿನ್ನಲಿ ಟ್ಯಾಕ್ಸ್ ಕಟ್ಟುವವರ ಪಾಡು ಇಷ್ಟೇ ಅಂತಾ ನಾನು ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಮೈಸೂರು ಕಡೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಬೆಳೆಸಿದೆ. 

ಒಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋಲ್ ಗೋಲ್ ಲಡ್ಡು ಮಾರಾಟದಲ್ಲಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗೋಲ್ಮಾಲ್ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಶಯವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ತಾಯಿ ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ನೀನೇ ಕಾಪಾಡಬೇಕು.

Savoring Kalladka Tea (KTea) at Lakshmi Nivas, Kalladka

To begin with, the retro Lakshmi Nivas is demolished to accommodate NH-75 expansion through Kalladka town. The path to hotel is full of construction materials which is slippery and muddy. The hotel administrators have aptly covered the entrance with dust prevention nets to prevent the flying mud from half baked highway. Follow the google maps to reach the newly constructed hotel comfortably.

After our exciting visit to Narahari Parvata, we stopped at Lakshmi Nivas to consume lunch. The prime intention was to taste Kalladka Tea, prominently expressed as KTea. Specialty of tea is 3 layered composition of thick milk (bottom), tea-decoction (middle) and milk froth (top) with varied proportion. It is not as simple as it looks in picture. Lot of calculations are needed to perfectly keep these three things apart and look like tri-layered beverage. As of now, instead of dwelling on details, here is a short picture for my record.

Post a disappointing meal, we had this extraordinary tea on our tables. It is quite unusual to have tea post meals. We consumed this time exclusively to taste the unique tea of India. Once it arrived, we took couple of photographs before blending them to single layer. The taste was fantastic and the sugar was perfect. So its not only the look of tea, the beauty lies in taste as well. If you are passing through Kalladka town during morning hours, do not forget to sip this elegant tea!

Delta Beach - Kodi Bengre, Udupi District

Similar to the Someshwara beach near Bynduru, the specialty of beach is estuary situated nearby. The Swarna river merges with Arabian sea here. One of the majestic scene to watch especially during golden hour. A short drive of about 10kms from Malpe beach through narrow rural roads running parallel to Arabian sea, leads you to this beach. The beach can also be reached via Santekatte junction at National Highway - 66 which is convenient way. But if you wish to rejoice Arabian sea from Malpe to Delta beach, I would suggest you to take Malpe-KodiBengre road though it takes tad longer time. Along Malpe-KodiBengre route, one can visit Hoode and Gujjarbettu beach if you love birdwatching where plenty of migrant birds can be spotted during winter.

The alluring part is the flamboyant nature that ornate the region. It was enticing to watch the river meeting the sea with terns & gulls accompanying with joy. It is heart-warming to watch the gulls & terns flying over estuary with zest further disappearing to invisible golden horizon. Yes, there are lot of birds to photograph here apart from enjoying blissful nature. I saw common raptors (but could not spot white bellied sea-eagle yet), terns, gulls and reef heron. Perhaps kingfishers would be too active hunting along calm backwaters. 

Downsides:

The kodi-bengre beach does not seem to be officially developed tourist spot. There are no walkways to reach the beach. One has to cross the sea walls to enjoy in beach. This is quite tough for people who find it difficult to climb (my father had tough time). Finally, we saw an open path between houses to reach the sand floor of the beach. There are snack shops here but no official parking spots. The roads are concreted which means no ground clearance between road and the sideways. The bumper of small cars take a hit badly, so be careful while parking car. Also, coconuts may fall at any point of time which is another risk :-).

The biggest menace is the unprecedented trashing. Lack of trash-bins and cleaning has hit badly on the sanity of beach. It is disheartening that educated people fail to carry the trash back in case of absence of dust-bins. Request to visitors not to spoil the sanctity of nature. If you cannot carry trash back in your car, dump in dustbins of snack shops at least.

ಗೂಗಲ್ ಟೈಮ್ ಗಮ್ಮತ್ತು, ಜಿಲೇಬಿಗೆ ಕುತ್ತು

ರಾತ್ರಿ ಊಟದ ನಂತರ ಗುಂಡ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಂಗಿ ಎಂದಿನಂತೆ ಹರಟೆಗೆ ಮನೆಯ ಹೊರಗಡೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡರು. ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ  ೯ ರಿಂದ ೧೦ ರವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತೆ ಇವರ ಹರಟೆ. ಒಂದು ತರಹದ single-sided talk ಅಂದ್ರೂ ತಪ್ಪಾಗಲಾರದು. ನಿಂಗಿ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅರಗಿಸಿ, ಕರಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಂಡನಿಗೆ ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ತೂಕಡಿಕೆ ಬರುವುದು ಉಂಟು. ಆದರೂ ಅರ್ಧಾಂಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ! ಸಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ೧೦ ರ ವರೆಗೆ.

ಅದೊಂದು ದಿನ ಹರಟೆ ಹಾಗೆ ನಡಿತಾ ಇತ್ತು. ದಿನಪೂರ್ತಿ ನಡೆದ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಂಗಿ ಉದುರುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದ್ದಳು. ಗುಂಡನಿಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟೊಂದು ಆಕಳಿಕೆ ಇದುವರೆಗೆ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲವೇನೋ! ಬಹುಶಃ ಆಕಳಿಕೆ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ ಬಹುಮಾನ ಬರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಗುಂಡನಿಗೆ.

೧೦ಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನೇನು ಹತ್ತಿ ನಿಮಿಷ ಇರುವಾಗ ಗುಂಡ ನಿಂಗಿಗೆ "ನಡೆ ಮಲಗಲು ತೆರಳೋಣ ಅಂತ" ತಾಕೀತು ಮಾಡಿದನು.

ನಿಂಗಿ ಮಾತನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಣ್ಣಾಡಿಸಿದಳು. ಸುಮಾರು ೫ ನಿಮಿಷ  ಆಗಿರಬೇಕು, "ಅಲ್ಲವೇ ನಿದ್ರೆಗಿಂತ ಒಂದು ಗಂಟೆ ಮುಂಚೆ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ನೋಡಬೇಡಿ ಅಂತಾ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಲ್ಲ? ಯಾಕೆ ನೋಡ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದೀಯ" ಅಂತಾ ಗುಂಡ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಮುಚ್ಚಿಡಲು ನಿಂಗಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು. "ಏನಿಲ್ಲ ರೀ ಟೈಮ್ ಎಷ್ಟು ಅಂತಾ confirm ಮಾಡಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಓಪನ್ ಮಾಡಿದೆ ಅಷ್ಟೇ" ಅಂತಾ ನಿಂಗಿ ಮಾರುತ್ತರ ನೀಡಿದಳು. 

"ಅಲ್ಲವೇ ೫ ನಿಮಿಷ ಏನು ಟೈಮ್ ನೋಡಿದ್ದು? ಏನು ಗೂಗಲ್ ಸರ್ಚ್ ಮಾಡಿ ಟೈಮ್ ನೋಡಿದ್ಯಾ ಏನು" ಅಂತ ಅಣಕವಾಡಿದನು ಗುಂಡ. 

ಅಷ್ಟು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೆ ತಡ , ಎರಡು ಗುದ್ದು ಗುಂಡನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿತ್ತು. "ಏನ್ರಿ ಹಾಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡ್ತೀರಾ? ತಾಳಿ ನಾಳೆ ಜಿಲೇಬಿ ಪ್ರೋಗ್ರಾಮ್ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸಲ್.  ಮೂರೂ ಹೊತ್ತು ಗಂಜಿ. ಏನಾದ್ರೂ ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಳಿ" ಅಂತ ದರದರನೆ ಮಲಗುವ ಕೋಣೆಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿದಳು ನಿಂಗಿ. 

"ಅಯ್ಯೋ ಶಿವನೇ. Joke provoked wife to revoke Jilebi plan" ಅಂತಾ ಗುಂಡನು ಕೂಡಾ ನಿದ್ದೆಗೆ ಜಾರಲು ಅಣಿಯಾದನು.

Go without expectations! - The yellow browed bulbul

Sometimes, a casual photo walk culminates in great images. Life without expectations is harder to live but that is way to attain Moksha as per Hindu sacred book "The Bhagavad Geetha". Same thing I experience today.

It has been overcast from past 4 days and birding activity was stalled owing to gloomy skies. Today, in hot midday, the sun peeped out for a while but soon hid behind arid clouds. These high clouds neither precipitate nor cool down atmosphere. Such clouds aggravate the humidness in our coastal village which can be muggy even if we are idle. Nevertheless, these are not the things to ponder upon since we can never control the patterns of nature.

I went for relaxation walk to break-out the bird photography pause created by uncanny clouds. The light was poor, implies zero expectations. I went straight nearby canopy where bulbuls were making noise. This canopy actually belongs to them :-). There are red-whiskered, red-vented, grey-headed, flame-throated and yellow-browed bulbuls having home here in canopy. While most of the day, these birds forage inside canopy (except for commoners like red-whiskered and red-vented), sometimes they come out of foliage when there is intense fight or to grab some sun. Today while was gazing near canopy for any lifers, the grass cutting machine booted and made a loud sound during its operation. Voila! What a lifer! The yellow browed bulbul starting calling out loudly out of curiosity or anxiety outside canopy nearby my position. Here are clicks for you before they pushed-off!

More closer now! Sometimes luck shines exuberantly. I walked down the road and they appeared at eye level and much closer than previous sighting. This time, picture clarity was excellent despite ISO at 800. I was elated with the result and happily walked home. The midday work began with enthusiasm after I sighted yellow browed bulbul quite crisply.

I hope to spot the other rare bulbuls at eye level (flame-throated & grey-headed). There are many other birds too in my hot-list which I aspire to capture before I leave from native village!

Birds teach us more than the lesson to be patient. They teach us simplicity equally as well. They are happy to dwell in constrained environment and adjust to everything that comes their way. Despite the atrocities of humans on mother nature, birds are trying to adapt to the ever evolving urban lifestyle. But there is always a threshold. Birds cannot dwell in human habitat. Its up to us to understand the importance of every creature on this earth and conserve the bio-diversity.
