End of Monsoon season

This one I wanted to post during end of September 2019, Ironically, these scenes never turned out to be end of monsoon season :D. Multiple cyclones kept Arabian sea busy and consequently coastal towns were pounded with heavy rains for nearly a week. The volume of rains crossed the normal mark in a just a day. Overall it was nearly excess of 500% recorded rainfall for the month of October. Also for the first time, we witnessed the south-west monsoon retreat coinciding with north-east monsoon onset. Despite it was logically the end of SW monsoon, the rains prolonged deep into November month as well. These were pictures caught of cooler skies with pinch of cold weather assuming the conclusion of south west monsoon over Karnataka.

A brief revisit to ISCKON

A day before Deepavali festival, we wanted to hangout somewhere nearby since in laws were in Bangalore. One of the places to visit within Bangalore which would match the taste of elders is ISKCON temple. Honestly, I do not admire the temple as much like the mythological temples situated at hometown. We wanted to just relax a bit with devotion. The nearest was ISKCON and we decided to visit during evening hours.

We started at 4:30PM and heavy traffic at hebbal flyover was the first bottleneck. The pathetic design always constricts the smooth traffic over the fly over. It took nearly 30 minutes to cross the flyover. The journey past descension was sheer liberation from crowded road. The drive past the fly-over was quite smooth and in matter of 20 mins we reached the destination. There was enough parking space and the crowd was minimal.

Unlike the last visit, the authorities have relaxed the photography rules. You can capture some of the outer areas of temple without disturbing the crowd. This enabled me to capture few glimpses of this modern temple against the cloudy background. We did not eat the tasty snacks served at temple shops this time, primarily due to the heavy lunch we had at home. After crossing the temple exit, we savored tasty pongal which was served as prasad.

It was 6PM when we were at the last stage of temple. The night lights projected on the temple were splendid to capture as well. The mobile captured palatable shots with acceptable noise. Here are few snaps to rejoice. Snapseed which is my favorite mobile photo editor did fantastic job as well!

ಬ್ಯಾಕೆಂಡ್ - ೨೮

"Relax Horn"

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಒಂತರಾ ಹೊಸ ಟ್ರೆಂಡ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸರಿ ಹೊಂದುತ್ತೆ ಕೂಡಾ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಪೂರ್ತಿ ಲೋಡ್ ಇರುವ ಲಾರಿ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡರೆ, ಲಾರಿ ಹೊರಡುವ ಮೊದಲೆ ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಹಸಿರಿನಿಂದ ಕೆಂಪಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಷ್ಟೊತ್ತಿಕಾಗಲೇ ಹಲವಾರು ಹಾರ್ನ್ ಹಾಕಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಲಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಿಡಿಶಾಪ ಹಾಕುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇನ್ನೇನು ಏಸ್ ಟ್ರಕ್ಕುಗಳು ಸಣ್ಣ ಗಲ್ಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನುಗ್ಗಿತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅದರಿಂದ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪೀಡಿತರಾಗುವವರು ದ್ವಿಚಕ್ರ ವಾಹನದವರು. ಮುಖ್ಯರಸ್ತೆಯ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಲು ಅಡ್ಡದಾರಿ ಹಿಡಿಯೋಣವೆಂದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲೂ ಈ ಸಣ್ಣ ಆನೆಗಳ ಕಾಟ. ಮತ್ತು, ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೂ ವೈಟ್-ಟಾಪಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿ. ಇರುವ ಸಣ್ಣ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಗ ಹೋಗೊಣವೆಂದರೆ ಬಸವನಹುಳುವಿನಂತೆ ತೆವಳುತ್ತಾ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಟ್ರಕ್ಕುಗಳು. ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಓವರ್ಟೇಕ್ ಮಾಡಲು ಜಾಗವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.

ಈ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಹಾರ್ನ್ ಹಾಕುವವರಿಗೆ ಇವರು ಮೊದಲೆ ತಣ್ಣಗಾಗಿಸುವ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ನೋಡಿ. ನೋಡ್ರಪ್ಪಾ, ನಾವಿರೋದೆ ಹೀಗೆ, ಆರಾಮಾಗಿ ಹಾರ್ನ್ ಹಾಕಿ. ಜಾಗ ಇದ್ರೆ ಕೊಟ್ರೆ ಬಿಡ್ತಿವಿ ಇಲ್ಲಾಂದ್ರೆ ನಮ್ಮಿಂದೇ ಬರ್ತಾ ಇರಿ ಅನ್ನೋ ತರ ಇದೆ. ಇವ್ರೆನೋ ಹೀಗೆ ಹಾಕ್ತಾರೆ ಆದ್ರೆ ಜನ ಕೇಳ್ಬೇಕು ಅಲ್ವಾ. ಅವ್ರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಿಡುಕನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆಯೇ. ಬೇಕಾದ್ರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಬ್ಯಾಕೆಂಡ್ ಚೇಂಜ್ ಮಾಡ್ಕೋ ಅಂತಾ ಹಿಡಿಶಾಪ ಹಾಕಿ ತಮ್ಮ ದಾರಿ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಬ್ಯಾಕೆಂಡ್ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ರಿಲಾಕ್ಸ್ ಬರ್ದಿತ್ತಾರೋ ಇಲ್ವೋ ಆದ್ರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಟ್ರಕ್ಕುಗಳು ಯಾರು ಏನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ರೂ ಕೇಳ್ತಾರೆಯೇ? ಅವ್ರ ಹಾಡು ಕೇಳ್ಕೋಂಡು ತಮ್ಮದೆ ರಸ್ತೆ ಅನ್ನೋ ತರ ಗಾಡಿ ಓಡಿಸ್ತಾರೆ ಅಷ್ಟೇ!

ಗಲ್ಲಿ ಗಲ್ಲಿ ಏಸ್ ಗಾಡಿಗಳು, ಕಿರಿದಾದ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕರ್-ಗಳು, ಊಟ ಮಾಡದೇ ಇರೋ ತರ ಎತ್ತಿನಗಾಡಿಯಂತೆ ಸಂಚರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಟ್ಯಾಂಕರ್ ಲಾರಿಗಳು ಇನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಮುಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ರಿಲಾಕ್ಸ್ ಕಣಪ್ಪಾ! ಕುಡಿಯೋ ನೀರು ಕೊಡ್ತೀನಿ ಸುಸ್ತಾದರೆ ಅನ್ನೋ ತರ ಇದೆ. ಒಮ್ಮೆಲೆ ಬ್ರೇಕ್ ಹಾಕಿದರೆ, ನ್ಯೂಟನ್ ಮೂರನೆ ಸೂತ್ರದಂತೆ, ನೀರು ಒಮ್ಮೆಲೆ ಬ್ಯಾಕ್ ಇದ್ದವರಿಗೆ ಬಡಿಯುವುದು ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ. ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಸುಸ್ತಾದರೆ ತಂಪು ನೀರಿನ ಸಿಂಚನವಾಗಿ ರಿಲಾಕ್ಸ್ ಆಗಬಹುದೆಂಬುದು ಅವರ ಊಹೆ. ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ ಮಾರಾಯ್ರೆ! ಟ್ಯಾಂಕರ್ ಲಾರಿಗಳು ಸಾಗುವ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಜಲರೇಖೆಯನ್ನೇ ಹಾಸುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕಿರಿದಾದ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಸವನಹುಳದಂತೆ ಚಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ, ದ್ವಿಚಕ್ರ ವಾಹನ ಸವಾರರ ತಾಳ್ಮೆಗೂ ಸಂಕಟ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವಸರದಲ್ಲಿ ಓವರ್ಟೇಕ್ ಮಾಡಲು ಹೋಗಿ ಮುಂದೆ ವಾಹನ ಅಡ್ಡ ಬಂದಾರೆ ಒಮ್ಮೆಲೇ ಬ್ರೇಕ್ ಒತ್ತಬೇಕಾಗುವುದು ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯ. ಮೊದಲೇ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜಲರೇಖೆ, ಅದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಡನ್ ಬ್ರೇಕ್ ಒತ್ತಿದರೆ ಬೈಕ್ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಜಾರೋದು ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ ನೋಡಿ. ಅದಿಕ್ಕೆ ತಾಳ್ಮೆ ಇಟ್ಕೊಂಡು ರಿಲಾಕ್ಸ್ ಆಗಿ ಗಾಡಿ ಓಡಿಸಿ ಅನ್ನುವ ನೀತಿಪಾಠನೂ ಇರಬಹುದು. ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಕಾರಣ ಇದೆ. ದಡಿಯ ನೀರಿನ ಲಾರಿಗಳು ಸಣ್ಣ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲೇನೋ ಹೋಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಆದರೆ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಅಷ್ಟ್ಟ್ಟೋಂದು ಇರುತ್ತದೆಯೇ. ಬಿಬಿಎಂಪಿಯವರ ಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಡಾಮರ್-ಗಳೇ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕರ್ ಲಾರಿಗಳು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿದರೆ, ರಸ್ತೆ ತೂತು ಬೀಳೋದು ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೊಂಡಗಳು ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ ರಿಲಾಕ್ಸ್ ಆಗಿ ಗಾಡಿ ಓಡಿಸಿರಿ ಎಂಬುವ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ಕೂಡಾ ಇರಬಹುದು.

ಯಾವಗಿಂದಾನೋ ತೆಗಿಬೇಕೂಂತಾ ಇದ್ದೆ. ಇವಥು ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ತು ನೋಡಣ್ಣಾ. ಟೆಕ್ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ಪೂರಾ ಹೊಂಡ ಗುಂಡಿಗಳು. ಹೈ-ಟೆಕ್ ಸಿಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಲೋ-ಟೆಕ್ ರೋಡುಗಳು. ಏನ್ ಮೇಂಟೇನ್ ಮಾಡ್ತಾರೋ. ಆಫೀಸ್ ಬಾಳಿ ಹಾಗೆ ಬೈಕ್ ಅನ್ನು ಹೊಂಡಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯ ನಿಭಾಯಿಸಿ ಸುಸ್ತಾಗಿ ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಗಾಗಿ ಕಾಯುವಾಗ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ತೆಗೆದು ಕ್ಲಿಕ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು. ಅಂದ ಹಾಗೆ ರಿಲಾಕ್ಸ್ ಆಗಲು ನೀರು ಮಾತ್ರ ಕಚೇರಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಕುಡಿದದ್ದು ನೋಡಿ. ಉಫ್!!

ಬ್ಯಾಕೆಂಡ್ - ೨೭

"ಗೆದ್ದೇ ಗೆಲ್ಲುವೇ ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಗಲ್ಲಲೇ ಬೇಕು ಒಳ್ಳೇತನ"

ತುಂಬಾ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಬರೆಯಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಒಳ್ಳೇತನವನ್ನೇ ಗಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಏರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ರಲ್ಲಿ ಇವ್ರು. ಒಳ್ಳೇತನ ಗಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಬೇಕು ಅಂತಾರೆ ಇವ್ರು. ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಗೆದ್ದೇ ಗೆಲ್ತೀವಿ ಅದೂ ಕೂಡ ಒಳ್ಳೆತನನ ಗಲ್ಲಿಗೇರಿಸಿ ಅನ್ನೋ ಅರ್ಥ ಅಲ್ಲಾ ತಾನೆ. ಯಾಕಂದ್ರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗಾಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಸಿನೆಸ್ ಮಾಡೋಕೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕೇರ್ಫುಲ್ ಆಗಿರ್ಬೇಕು. ಗೆಲ್ಲಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಒಳ್ಳೇತನನ್ನ ಬಲಿ ಕೊಡೋಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗ್ತಿರಾ ಅನ್ನೋ ಭಯ.

ಕಾಗುಣಿತ ತಪ್ಪಾಗೈತೆ ಅಂತ ನಂಗೂ ಗೊತೈತಿ.  ಅದರ ಜೊತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನೂ ನೇಣಿಗೆ ಏರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ರು. ಸುಮಾರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ವರ್ಷದ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಚಿತ್ರ. ಶನಿವಾರ ಆಫೀಸ್ ಮುಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರೋವಾಗ ತೆಗ್ದಿದ್ದು. ಕಾವೇರಿ ಗಲಾಟೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಶನಿವಾರ ಕೂಡ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕೂಂತ ಕಂಪನಿಯವ್ರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ರು. ಜನರೂ ಹಾಗೆ ನೋಡಿ, ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ನೇಣಿಗೇರಿಸಿ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಮಳೆರಾಯನನ್ನೇ ಸಮಾಧಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸುಮಾರು ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಮಳೆ ಬೀಳುತ್ತಿದೆ ಅನ್ನೋದು ಸಂತೋಷದ ವಿಷಯ. ಆದರೆ ಭೀಕರ ಮಳೆಯು ಮಾನವಕುಲಕ್ಕೆ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ನೀಡಲು ಬಂದಿದೆ ಅನ್ನೋದು ಮರೆಯುವಂತಿಲ್ಲ.

ಮುಗಿಸುವ ಮುನ್ನ, ಇವರ ಹೋಪ್ ಆಂಡ್ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಕ್ಕೆ ಸಲ್ಯೂಟ್ ಕಣ್ರಿ. ಹಾಗೆ ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಕುಯ್ಯೋದು ಬೇಡ ಅಂತಾ ಬರಹ ಕೂಡಾ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

Spraying Rays

A glorious evening after light rain. The sky was blue when the clouds descended post the storm. At that time, the Sun hiding behind the distant clouds sprayed its rays over the blue sky providing a feel of lighthouse beaming light 360 degrees. That was fantastic and motivating for a landscape shooter. My mobile camera too captured it fairly. Hope you enjoy these short scene.

We are into August month and finally monsoon is showing presence all over Karnataka. The western ghats are shrouded with thick nimbus clouds and its deluge everywhere. The glory of monsoon is back but not without tale of destruction. In my native too its torrential rains with gusty wind. The electric pools are uprooted and restoration taking more than 2 days. The village is blacked out for longer time. The malnad region is under severe beating by monsoon rains. The Ashlesha star looks like is pouring deficit of past months all at once. Hopefully my exaggeration does not result in an  immediate dry spell :-) (a pinch of jinx). The rivers are invading human habitats. There is barrage of murkier water all through western ghats. The monsoon is swelling the reservoirs. Overall its good and bad news, perhaps a more of latter one. The destruction caused by the relentless rains is astronomical. The rains which needed to distributed across months are pouring in span of few weeks which is increasing the casuality level. Hopefully, the distribution remains even in subsequent monsoon seasons.

While the western ghats are drenched in rains, there has been mere cloud activity is Bangalore from past week. Intermittent drizzles were only hope. Today morning, it rained with slightly more intensity but not enough. It was enough to obstruct office goers since the timing of rain was around 9AM. Bang on time! I too delayed my commute to office by 45 mins till rains completely subsided. Two wheeler riding is not so easy with bad roads and drizzling weather. In the interim, I captured these droplets again. The light was bit intense due to the raising day and hence 1/160 shutter culminated in stable pictures despite the shaky arms. The droplets over the flower and foliage was pleasing to capture and was satisfied with the result.

Fantastic Reflections

That was fantastic day. It rained for couple of days, the winds were low, the atmosphere was great. The rains have spruced up surroundings. The evening was vivacious. The lake was still. The reflection of clouds on the lake water was clear. The evening was lighted up and clouds glowed with energy. The stage was set for the wonderful light show and the lake added additional charm. This ensemble was duly captured by my mobile camera and my eyes.

Hope you enjoy the vivid glimpses shot on that colorful evening. While my toddlers were busy in play area, there was equally busy activity over troposphere which kept my photography soul busy as well.

Revived Monsoon

The mahanakshatra of Pushya is stirring hope of revived monsoon. Finally the glory of monsoon is back in our village. The fields are flooded and rains are relentless. The monsoon has revived and has magically turned the land to temporary lakes. The rains are crossing 200mm and the schools have declared holiday. Hopefully the saga lasts longer than expected.

Back in bangalore, the monsoon has shown some presence here too. The rains are showing up from past 3 days and it was quite heavy yesterday. Today on my weekend walk along the Rachenahalli lake, I caught those fabulous monsoon clouds (probably lazy) rushing from west horizon. The scenes are fascinating to capture for a landscape enthusiasts. The light was splendid. The clouds were everywhere. The winds were heavy. Overall, heartfelt scenes to capture.

I thought the sky would be illuminated during sunset but just when sun began sinking, a huge band of clouds hovered over the troposphere obliterating the light show. By the time, I had captured many vibrant scenes and this did not annoy so much. This time monsoon anomaly is quite noticeable. Sometimes rain and sometimes sun.

Needless to mention, it did not rain as per the intensity of clouds. Just a pinch of drizzle to contend for

Ending Note:

10 days after relentless rains, the MET department declared to expect above normal rains in next two weeks. Alas! I don't know if there is jinx associated with their declaration or nature wants to challenge human kind. The rains completely stopped later ON. It is dry spell again with intense heat.
