Rapid Fire Rain-Shaft!

Its been lull and dull monsoon so far in Karnataka, thanks to el-nino. The moisture is getting harder to push to mainland west coast and thus expanding the deficit day by day. Despite that, some trace of monsoon is seen everyday in coast but not much to brim canals or flood the fields. Perhaps the water scarcity would arise as early as December. Positive IOD and MJO mojo are missing even though models are predicting it to be enhanced by mid september. But thats of not much use. People are fearing early monsoon exit this time ending with deficit of 30%. Hope some magic would narrow the deficit margin to not more than 15%.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru is seeing daily moderate showers clocking not more than 7mm. Today also we had mild showers in afternoon enough to soak dried clothes 😀. We left the soaked clothes AS IS trusting our guts that sun will shine till evening. It worked out well. From 2 to 5PM, sun was bright and soaked clothes dried again. Kind of natural re-rinse 😛.

Monster rain shaft spanning over shorter area provided intense shower for 10 mins or so. Later it subsided magically to complete standstill. No drizzle even before stoppage. That was rapid fire few minutes. I captured moving rain shaft in form timelapse for few seconds before rain forced us to vacate. The brief spell of rain quickly came to a stop. No gradual decrease

Bengaluru is witnessing cloud activity every evening. If you are lucky, the rains would bless the region. Most of the times it would rain either in far north or far south. This time it rained overhead in a short burst.

If the rain drifts elsewhere, there is nothing to lament. You have some wonderful crepuscular or distant rain-shaft in store to capture.

or bizarre/mysterious cloud formations! Nothing came out eventually, we were just content with mild drizzles after an hour.

I like the contrast between rudderless cirrus clouds and moisture laden nimbus clouds beneath.
