Photo Blog - Back to Glory

I wrote about the deserted Amruthahalli lake recently. Do read here! Never assumed that Amruthahalli would start seeing glory rapidly. It has been raining consistently in Bengaluru from past 10 days which has energized the water bodies are again. After returning to Bengaluru after 10 days of stay at native, today I went for casual stroll along the lake. What a mesmerizing sight! I felt like a new lake was born. The lake now can be called as lake than playground. The water is shining and avian world is thriving. I saw plenty of waders in lake especially black-winged-stilts and spot billed ducks. Hopefully there are many more. I will go for photo walk soon! The reflections are back and was majestic to capture.

Meanwhile the reason for the partial filling of lake is not clear. Whether it is rain or sewage from excess rains or pristine sewage itself? Perhaps not completely rain sourced since I saw a maintenance activity at west side drainage. Looks like floods forced authorities to steer sewage towards lake :-(. The water wasn't clear and slightly stinking which was one more evidence. The pure rainwater source would take months of rains to fill the lake. The heap of silt is still lying on the lake bed which means the rains arrived before work was completed. I don't think the heap can be cleared sooner!
