Harvest Season

The paddy machinery is back to coast. These machines are rented from Tamilnadu and subcontracted locally in coast. The green paddy fields have turned golden and its now ripe time to harvest them. Here are the glimpses of harvest season from our village. The newly harvested paddy is consumed with festive fervor here in India.

There are quite more sophisticated machinery nowadays which do not break the hay and rips only the paddy part. The hay is then rolled into bundle by another machine.

The traditional farming which involves laborers are gradually declining in our region. The work involving laborers is turning out to be costlier and time taking considering unseasonal rains. The machineries can do the job in a single day and turning out to be cheaper than hiring laborers. Also the youths of the region are no more interested in farming field since they feel relegated in modern society. Also the income in this field fluctuates due to capricious monsoon trend every year. Hence machines are imminent during the harvest season.

A well laned highway flanked by paddy fields with coconut trees is a beautiful perception to capture under azure sky. The contrast between golden field and blue skies are irresistible to photographic eyes!

The unseasonal rains are creating trouble nowadays threatening the destruction of crops during harvest. Hopefully the atmosphere turns positive soon.

  1. Very beautiful scenery. I see a big farming combine. This equipment is very expensive but I guess cheaper than human labour if you spread the cost over many years of use.
