Water is major problem in Bengaluru city. With scanty rainfall last year in catchment areas, the shortage turned acute this summer. With authorities giving up shamelessly, citizens of city have no choice than to depend on tankers to source water.
This is almost daily scenes on the narrow lanes of city's residential area. The tanker guys block entire road until the water is completely drained to house tank. Until then there is no way to go if you are on four wheeler. The rest of road is occupied by the resident's vehicle. No resident has proper four wheeler parking area for their houses. Its parked over road and footpath equally. People who built parking area for their house encroaching foot-path. Thus if tractor tanker halts nearby house to drain water, then you are put in hibernation for nearly 20 mins. There is no room for reversing four wheeler as well due to narrow road and parked vehicles. The tractor drivers also doesn't heed to your honks. Their haughtiness and ego is unmatched. They continue watching mobile device. If you request, then they display political posture to wait till process gets over. Their audacity is unparalleled thanks to mafia that runs throughout city which milks lakhs of money by selling water. The political nexus further strengthens to their network, You have no choice other than to wait till procedure gets over :-(.
The picture was captured by me while waiting ridiculously doing nothing. I switched off engine. Fortunately, this was carrying gravel for construction activity and hence had to wait only for 10 mins. Similar scenes would be experienced when tanker drains water. The pain of futile wait transforms to frustration as you reach home.
Here is another instance of goods carrier blocking the narrow street. I couldn't spot the driver as well. There wasn't any room for passage of even two wheeler. Finally, had to make U-turn and take up alternate path. Looked like, the carrier truck was unloading some of household items. But not a pinch of common sense to park by the side to allow some passage. Many of them turn arrogant when we ask for space :-D.
