Time shifts are gradual even though people like me think it as spontaneous. The fastness may be due to perceived fast transit of time. The current generation is exactly opposite millennials like me. Just a comparison but not prove that our way was correct. Ancient Sanksrit says "Kalaya Tasmai Namaha", meaning "I bow to Time!". It is up to people like me to respect the changes over time.
Standing in the queue for billing at D-Mart, I came across young bachelors who were billing a single item. We were in queue which had restricted billing for 10 items max. The bachelors were ahead of me and constantly checking mobile for cheaper options. There were only few customers ahead of us (may be 2). The bachelors were debating on prices and wanted some more items. The queue was clearing up at lethargic pace which broke patience of bachelor. The guy who stood at the queue bailed out saying "Lets buy everything online!" and left the queue. I wasn't surprised since many youngsters have similar habit.
Key Takeaway
Even though D-Mart provided much cheaper prices than e-commerce outlets (I have personally compared and there is large margin), younger generations tend to lose patience in stores. It hardly costs 10mins to stay in queue but guys are not ready. There is debate of saving time, but it was holiday. There is nothing saving time. Most of them will be engrossed in doom scrolling through infinite posts!
Its matter of time that when younger generations turn older that e-commerce is expensive thing. Going to D-mart like retail chains is better which saves enormous costs. When you don't have onus of family upbringing, comfort planning spikes and when you have family, budget planning takes priority. With exorbitant taxation of New India without any rewards for taxpayers or development, the budget planning will take the hot-seat once family is in place.
