Bird Series - Blue Tailed Bee-Eater

The bee-eaters are in general are found in open hunting for prey on air. I have rarely seen them perched on tree or picking something from canopy. Consequently, it becomes difficult to shoot these birds unless you have lens with 500mm++ focal length. This is partially due to the fact that they fly away as soon as they sense human movement. In open, the human camouflage does not work :-)

Similar to green bee-eater, blue-tailed bee eaters have open grounds as battle fields. Generally them perch on same location after attacking in air. I do not have clear pictures of these as well since they shy away from humans quite quickly.. Here are few pictures from Hosaadu village.

Below pictures are relatively sharper than above. Caught again at Hosaadu village while having a walk over fields. This time bird was steady for a moment which allowed me to shoot decent pictures.
