Monsoon Diary 2020 - The Katapadi Backwater

We do pass through this place on innumerable occasions while travelling to Udupi and from Udupi. Not a single instance, I could pull over vehicle and snap this beautiful landscape. The shore of backwater is situated near the service road and also not crowded. Somehow impractical excuses have been forbidding me to capture this beautiful landscape.

One fine afternoon while on the way from village to Udupi, I decided take the interior road via Katapadi to reach the backwater. The soul was famished and stomach was rumbling. There was long drive to go. For a moment, the landscape hunger overthrew the hunger of stomach. I pulled over the vehicle to shore and captured these beautiful landscape for few minutes. Thanks to the prevailing monsoon season, the haze was zero, the landscape was green and clouds were active. This enabled me to capture beautiful scenes even on a sultry afternoon. The presence of clouds dipped the intensity of Sun to some extent. The presence of boat added perfect element to landscape frame. I stayed for 20 mins before pushing off to the intended destination.

Its not only backwater. The string of coconut trees grown over the trails of paddy fields were fabulous to watch. The paddy fields here added additional charm to the picture
